The Bike Ride has three routes: 30, 15 and 7.5 miles. The routes are all signed and marshaled. Starting at the Rose and Crown, Bower Hinton, the bike ride takes participants through the beautiful local villages of South Petherton, Barrington, East Lambook, Kingsbury Episcopi, Muchelney, Muchelney Ham and many other lovely parts of the South Somerset Countryside. Specific details of the individual routes can be accessed by clicking here.
This event it not a race. The ethos of the entire day is very much about people having fun together, regardless of physical prowess or cycling experience, with the overriding objective of raising money for The Orchid Cancer Appeal. As testicular cancer mainly effects young men, the 7.5 route exists to encourage families with children to take part and thus raise awareness of the issues with our young people.
There is a registration fee of £5 that exists to cover basis costs, e.g. Insurance and to be able to give a donation to the Red Cross who will be in attendance for the duration of the ride.
